"Pectin Production Facility Pre-Feasibility Study" was prepared by MEVKA Karaman Investment Support Office...

A "Pectin Production Facility Pre-Feasibility Study" was conducted by the Mevlana Development Agency Karaman Investment Support Office for the Production of Pectin Product Obtained from Fruit Pulp and Widely Used in the Food, Cosmetic and Pharmaceutical Sectors.

Pectin (Pectin) (E440) is a gelatin-like substance commonly used for thickening and gelling jams, jellies and gels. It occurs naturally in fruits such as apples, plums and oranges. Pectin is extracted from these fruits with heat and acid and then made into a liquid or powder that you can store. It is a water-soluble compound that absorbs liquid, so it is useful for jellies. Pectin is a semi-finished raw material used in the Biscuit, Cake, Chocolate and Candy Products sector, jam sector, wine making, etc. for the purpose of precipitation. Although there is no production in Turkey, it imports around 600-620 tons annually, especially from EU countries. 3 gr Pectin is obtained from a 200 gr lemon. It is quite an expensive product. 85.5% Citrus, 14% Apple, 0% in Production

Karaman is the province with the 2nd highest production in Apple, the province with the 9th highest production in sugar beet, and is adjacent to Mersin and Adana, which are the citrus production regions, and also Biscuits, Cakes, Chocolate and Confectionery Products, which are among the markets of the product. Since it is the leading province of its sector, it is thought that this product is suitable for the province both as a raw material and as a market, and a Pre-Feasibility Study for its production would be beneficial. In this direction, a Prefeasibility Study for Pectin has been prepared by the Karaman Investment Support Office.
